NLP: Re-framing methodology and 1 exercise
Recall that our "map" are all our experiences, memories and lessons that mark us where to move us. So the things which we live just are the reaction that we have before them. Things are not as they're but as we are.
Now, how to challenge our views? How to learn how to translate reality from another viewpoint?
Today we're going to see an exercise that I adore, is ideal for when we are getting "critical" and that if Mr Lopez had known ... Perhaps the end of the tale would've been different;)
NLP Exercise: How Replying to feedback
Many people see "How are we able to not react badly to criticism?" or rather, the easiest way to dissociate criticism or negative comment?
First, remember that things are neither positive nor negative. When we associate with a situation or words is linked with the emotion that caused us when it happened. A classic example is the music, where folks remember with great emotion certain song, not the tune itself but by the association that had the tune with a special moment in your life. (trabajos por internet)
But when faced with criticism, that doesn't affect us, it is important to learn how to look at it from a more distant view from "outside", dissociate from it. EduynLabino
Now, how will we do?
Let's start with this little exercise:
Step 1: Choose a recent situation where you felt uncomfortable with feedback or negative comment.
Step 2: Draw the scene in your head (where are the characters?, What was around?)
Step 3: Write down what the individual told you, LITERALLY (neither more nor less than what you heard)
Step 4: Be dissociated from the scene and decides whether to think about or ignore the comment.
Here the key questions are:
a. I am able to learn something from this comment?, If that is the case what?
b. Is it valuable to make a response to a comment?, If so , what?
Step 5: Define what new behaviour will decide to face this type of criticism. What would be a more positive approach to take on from this point on?
Step 6: Visualise yourself with this new disposition. What position will you have? What's your attitude?
As an example, one technique that can be used is that of glass. Imagine a thin but resistant glass that separates you from the speaker, which can let you get positive feedback and growth but does not let the criticism, glass block them and you don't hear them. What do you actually think?
Try this exercise and tell me, you can use for family, mates and colleagues. Do it is extremely powerful and will help you change how you view things.
